OUR STORY
A history of bread and how Orient Food Company Ltd got involved. The bread was discovered by mistake. A man in Egypt before 6000 BC left dough in the sun and it rose. After he found that it rose, he baked it. And that is how the journey of bread started. And after that it was a luxury food. Only wealthy Greeks used to have it with honey and tea. In the late 19th century when the industrial revolution took place new techniques of baking came into existence which led to making it accessible to the public. The early 20th century saw the establishment of large mass-produced baking in the cities.
And it spread all over the world. And through Portuguese it came to India. And my great-grandfather started his bakery in Kolkata. From there my father got the idea of bread. After the partition of India and Pakistan, my grandfather moved to east Pakistan in old Dhaka where we are located now. My grandfather didn't start the bread business immediately after coming to east Pakistan he started chocolate and pancakes. It was going smoothly until some incident happened and had to stop all the operations of the business. And then my father started a bread business with only 20 kg wheat flour. And that's how our business grew and now what we are today one of the oldest and branded bakeries. My grandfather named his business orient food which later my father changed to Orient Food Ltd Company.
